Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
1. Overview
Fomodo ("we", "us") builds the Fomodo focus-timer app for iOS and operates the website fomodo.app. We are a privacy-first product: the app requires no account, shows no ads, contains no third-party trackers, and we never sell your data.
This policy explains what information the app and the website handle, why, and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, write to us at [email protected].
2. Data in the app
Everything you create in Fomodo stays under your control:
- Tasks, focus sessions, statistics, streaks and settings are stored locally on your device.
- iCloud sync (optional, on by default): your data is stored in your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit. It syncs between your own devices. We operate no servers of our own and cannot read, access or recover this data. You can turn sync off in the app settings; you can delete the data in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud, or by deleting your data in the app.
- App blocking (Focus Shield) uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework. Your selection of blocked apps is stored on your device as opaque system tokens — we never see the names of your apps or how you use them, and this information never leaves your device.
- Purchases (Fomodo Pro) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only an anonymous confirmation that a purchase is valid — never your name, card number or billing details.
- Notifications and Live Activities are scheduled locally on your device.
- You can export your own data at any time with the in-app export feature.
The app contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics and no tracking of any kind.
3. Data on the website
The website fomodo.app collects only what is needed to work:
- Language & theme preference: a cookie ("fomodo_lang", kept up to 1 year) remembers your language; your light/dark choice is kept in your browser's local storage. Neither identifies you and no advertising cookies are used.
- Contact form / email: if you contact us we receive the name, email address, subject and message you provide, and use them only to reply to you.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is used solely to send the newsletter. Every issue contains an unsubscribe link.
- Comments (where enabled): the name, email and content you submit are stored, together with your IP address for spam protection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to display an avatar.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
- Embedded content (e.g. videos) behaves as if you had visited the originating website, which may collect data about you according to its own policy.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to provide and improve the app and website, to respond to you, and to keep our services secure. Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the app), your consent (newsletter, optional iCloud sync), and our legitimate interest in running a secure, functional service.
5. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Data is shared only with service providers that make the product work — Apple (iCloud, App Store payments) and our website hosting / email providers — or when the law requires us to disclose it.
6. Retention
App data remains on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it or remove the app. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request. Server logs are kept for a short, limited period.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your personal information, and to object to processing. Most of your data is directly in your hands: export it in the app, delete it in the app or in iCloud settings. For anything else, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
8. Children
Fomodo is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
App data is protected by your device's security and, when sync is on, by Apple's iCloud encryption in transit and at rest. The website is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we design for data minimisation: what we never collect cannot be lost.
10. International transfers
iCloud data is processed by Apple and may be stored in data centres in different regions, subject to Apple's safeguards. Website providers may likewise process data in other countries with appropriate protections.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The date at the top shows the latest revision; significant changes will be announced on this website.
